Featuring our New & Improved Witch!

For years I've wanted a witch for the yard.  Something creepy and animated.  I've been keeping my eyes open for a big cauldron and a witch mask, but I couldn't find either one that worked for me.  (Go ahead - Try to find a good witch mask) Finally I spotted a large cauldron, and bought a cheap mask, and went to work.   We made a junkie witch back in 2003, reluctantly used her again in 2004, and threw her away before Halloween 2005. (She is the green one shown at the bottom of this page) She was crap.  We kept the cauldron with the motor-stirring-stick for a possible future witch.  In 2006 I spotted a $1.29 mask at Walmart, and knew she would be perfect with a witches hat we already had in our mask-tub.  Our 2006 witch is sporting glowing red eyes, and custom sewn outfit (Oh yes, Russ is quite the seamstress), and a disco-shiny black cape that Grandma Harriet sent our way.

Like many of our static props, the witch is built on a PVC sub-frame, with chicken wire to fatten her up, and then landscape fabric for clothing.  The mask is glued to a standard styrofoam wig head.  The eyeballs are the cheap plastic ones from any Halloween store.  They have red LEDs back behind them to give them the creepy glow.   Just about all of our prop-heads are cheap rubber masks glued with Elmers white glue to a foam wig head.

WARNING!
Our crappy first generation witch appears below.  (She has since been "retired")
Please forgive our lack of better ability back in the day.

Andrew next to our new witch.  She's lacking hands, a shawl, and her stir stick.

<--- Andrew again with our lady.  Luckily I was able to find a big cauldron.

The motor assembly for the stirring witch is located in the cauldron.  I used my traditional aluminum angle stock and Dayton gearmotor.  The whole unit is bolted to the cauldron and steel stock for weight.
